Have you ever read The Continuum of Literacy Learning, Grades K-8: A Guide to Teaching (Fountas and Pinnell)?? This has become my guided reading bible!!! It is an absolute A*M*A*Z*I*N*G resource. It is jam packed with everything you need to know about what is expected from your kiddies by grade level. It is broken down into seven literacy contexts: interactive read alouds, share reading, writing about reading, writing, oral/visual/technological communications, phonics/spelling/word study, and finally, guided reading.
I have taken the huge guided reading portion of this resource and condensed it into individual cards for you to easily flip to. That way you can find both descriptions of the text and behaviors that the students should be showing at the particular reading level. They come in handy for parent-teacher conferences, too!
I decided to use minimal graphics and black ink - color ink is so expensive... yuck! Instead, you can print the cards out on colored cardstock for a little jazzing up! You can download the free sample resource cards for guided reading levels A-E. If you are interested in the entire resource (levels A-T), please go to my TPT store.Click here for a free sample (levels A-E) for you to preview.
