End of the Rainbow Paper Plate Twirlers

I love these twirly rainbows that we made!  They came out so super cute!  We added our three wishes in a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  I might leave them and have the kids replace the pot of gold and shamrock with clouds, add some weather facts, and hang them the opposite way!

Thanks for stopping by!

Green Mystery

This was a really fun inferencing activity.  The kids loved having their friends guess their "Something Green."  First we charted all the many things that are green… spinach, broccoli, snakes, trees, leaves, leprechauns.  We even included some fun characters like The Hulk, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Grinch.  Then we wrote three sentences (clues) and one question on our shamrock.  Then we made a flippy shamrock.  The shamrock flips open and shows the answer!  There were lots of giggles and smiles today when they were making their guesses!

Rainbow in a Jar- Density Experiment

I made this at home today with my little ones.  The first time did not go so well….

(We poured it in too quickly and I don't think the sugar was dissolved all the way.)
But the second time was a success!!!
This density experiment is easy to do at home or at school!

First, get your supplies.  All you need are 6 clear cups, 1 large cup, sugar, food coloring, a spoon, a microwave, and an eye-dropper or plastic syringe.

Then you distribute your sugar, water (1/2 cup each), and food coloring.  No sugar in the first cup.  1 scoop in the second cup.  2 scoops in the third cup.  3 scoops in the fourth…. and so on.  The more sugar, the denser the water.

Then mix.

After that, put in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes.  Mix some more.  This will help the sugar dissolve.

Finally, you can start putting in your colorful, sugar water.  Start with the most dense (purple) and work your way up!  Now this is where we messed up the first time.  We used a turkey baster so the water came out too fast.  The second time we used an eye-dropper. It was a slower process, but it turned out much better!

Isn't it beautiful?  We hope that this rainbow in a jar will help the Leprechaun find his way to our house the year!
