 The Great Turkey Race

Craft and Google Slides

We read these three books every year in November.  The kids get such a kick out of the characters:  Ollie, Cassie and Wing.

My friend, Meg, DREW the characters ... Can you believe she DREW them?!?!  When I draw I need to google "how to draw a turkey for kindergarten, simple" lol.  Check out how cute they look in the hallway.  Each kid had an option to make Ollie, Cassie, or Wing.  We have not done this craft yet, but every time we walk by her class on the way to lunch, my class always asks, "When are we making those?!?"

I keep telling Meg that the running puffs of smoke look like farts... what do you think?  'Leave your opinion in the comments.  HAHAH 😛

Head over to her TPT store to find out more about this craft:  The Suchoboky Store

💻Great Turkey Race - Digital Slides

Last year I created these google slides to go with the book The Great Turkey Race.  I didn't think that with Covid being "over" that I would ever use Google Slides again.  There are a few that I go back to, that I did not expect to... The Great Turkey Race being one of them.

Thanksgiving Ideas Using Google Slides

Oh how I just love Turkey Trouble.  It is one of our favorites in November.  We usually read this one over and over... my class just falls in love with the character.

Although we aren't virtual now, I created this resource with Google Slides.  We are using it in the classroom.  If we ever do have to go virtual, they will be familiar with moving images and typing in their answers.

Here's the book on amazon:

Here's the book read to you by the wonderful Awnie from Storytime at Awnie's House.  She is AMAZING!  I usually read the book aloud in class and then have them listen to it again later that day or the next day, using Awnie's House.

I created 8 literacy activities and 1 math activity to use with your class.  Here is description of the activities:

What’s Included...

  1. Sequencing the story with pictures and words. (drag your answers) - 1 slide
  2. Sequencing the story with pictures and sentences (drag your answers) - 1 slide
  3. Sequencing with sentences. (drag your answers) - 1 slide
  4. Opinion Writing - Write your opinion in one word. (type your answer) - 1 slide
  5. Opinion Writing -  Write your opinion in one words and back it up with evidence (type in your answer) -1 slide
  6. Comprehension questions - answer questions about the story.  The answers are multiple choice pictures.  The students will drag a circle over the answer.  - 1 slide
  7. Problem / Solution with pictures. (drag your answers). - 1 slide
  8. Phonemic awareness - The students will read words from the story and count the syllables. (drag your answers). - 3 slides
  9. Mixed up Sentences.  The students will drag and drop the words in order to make a complete sentence.  (drag and drop) - 8 slides
  10. Sentence matching. The students will drag and drop the sentence to match the given picture from the story to make a complete sentence. (drag and drop) - 2 slides
  11. Letter/Sound sort.  The students will sort the pictures by the beginning sounds: /t/&/p/, /r/&/c/, /a/&/e/, /sh/&/th/. - 4 slides
  12. Math:  Adding up to 10.  - 5 slides

The activities are differentiated and can be used in a primary classroom.  Here are some pictures! If are interested in checking this out on TPT, click here or any of the pictures below.  Gobble gobble!
